PARENT & STUDENT HANDBOOK
We have put together all the information that you need to know about our school as a new or continuing student or parent. Please read this carefully and let us know if you have any questions or comments..
From January we will be expecting all our children to attend school wearing their LIS polo shirt every day. We will be phasing in the rest of the uniform over the following year.
IES schools all have the same uniform which enables them to feel part of the IES family and instantly fit in at whatever sister school they visit.
Currently we do not provide transport for children attending our school. As we grow, this will remain under review and when it becomes a useful service we will implement it. Please see the Contact section which details how to find us.

Do you accept children of any age?
Currently we accept children from 11 months to 8 years old, growing one grade older with each year.
Can children start at any time during the year?
Yes, we accept children to start at any point in the school year. We understand that life sometimes doesn’t work to a timetable, particularly for our international parents.
How big are the classes?
Our classes are between about 8 and 15 children.
My child doesn’t speak Slovene/English, or speaks our home language. Will this be a problem?
No problem at all. We are experienced at supporting children in acquiring languages, whether it is English or Slovene and with many backgrounds. The younger children learn effective through play and interactions with their friends. The older children learn this way too, but we add some more formal support such as vocabulary, phonics teaching and grammar.
What is the food like? My child is a picky eater, or has allergies or other dietary needs.
All our meals are provided by an outside caterer. They are made using organic and eco produced ingredients. We encourage our children to try new foods gently and to eat healthily. We can provide for all diets: allergies require a doctor’s letter and vegetarian and other diets are on request.
What do I need to provide for my child?
We provide all meals, snacks and drinks. If your child is using diapers then we ask you to provide those, and any creams. If your child is in school they will need some basic supplies which will be detailed by their teacher who will be in touch with you before your child starts at our school. We play outside a lot so appropriate clothing will be needed such as sunhats, cold weather clothing and clothes to get muddy in as we have no hard surface to play on!
